We’re optimistic that humanity is still in its early stages, and that new ideas, approaches, and technologies can improve the arc of human development.

As philanthropic funders, we primarily focus on policy and research towards further climate action and advancing innovation in various fields, often with a bent towards earlier-stage efforts.

Who we are

Primordium is the combination of a private foundation and donor-advised fund (DAF) managed and advised by Erika and Peter Reinhardt.

We now both spend the majority of our time on impact-oriented endeavors (both non- and for-profit), and the majority of our philanthropic giving goes towards projects we instigate and where we remain deeply involved. We live in San Francisco with our young family.
